We recently launced our brand-new website, with a cool new feature that we're still getting to grips with; It's called Blurrt, it's basically intelligent gathering of social media. It gathers the words, the sentiment, the feeling and the mood of fans during games. We use it on the matchday section of the website, if you haven't seen it, check out some previous matches here!
During last night's game the fan's feeling displayed a decreasing happines over the course of the game. Showing that we were confident early on, but as the game progressed we became more and more disolusioned with how we were playing and ultimately, the result.
Another thing we've been able to do is put two subjects up against each other, so in this one we can check the number of tweets in a short period of time about two players, in the case above, Rashford and Martial.
We can even break it down further, showing the exact words people are tweeting about individual players, as you'll see from these examples below, about Ander Herrera and Ashley Young, they're not exactly censored, either!
We started to use this data and these graphs as part of our live watch along, last night. It's a great talking point during the streams and as you can see, it can throw up some surprising data during the game. If you've not joined us on a matchday, on the website, before, then come and have a look during the Watford match on Sunday, who knows what you'll find!
