After an indifferent preseason including a cancelled Derby?!, (still struggling to get my head around that one) Jose Mourinho and Manchester United roll into Hull on the back of two league wins. With an international break and an actual proper Manchester Derby to come beyond that (I'm assuming it won't get rained off this time) this weekends game takes on a much bigger importance. This is exactly the kind of game we've spent the past three seasons losing, and Hull is the place where, for me Jose can begin to make his mark as a Manchester United manager. Yes we've all got giddy at the sight of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba in United shirts but a consistent series of results is the thing that will get me and many other Reds out of our seats and applauding.
In our way Mike Phelan and his limping Hull City, pulling two results out of the bag against the odds so far. If they carry on at this rate they'll soon have more league points than players.
Mike is a man with more than a point to prove after the way he exited our club, and with new owners to convince of his and his players creditials what better way than a home win over Manchester United? I'm not expecting the easy walkover others are predicting, I hope Zlatan and co can prove me wrong. I'm predicting a Manchester United win yes, but 2-1 and hard fought.
