The opening weekend of the 2016/17 Premier League season is in the book after months of anticipation. It didn't disappoint, with plenty of goals, drama and fantasy football points up for grabs!
The Football Republic have partnered with FanDuel for an exciting new fantasy football tournament every weekend this season, with weekly cash prizes up for grabs if you can climb to the top end of the standings each weekend.
FanDuel's unique scoring system separates it from traditional fantasy football games, with significant points being awarded for on-field actions such as creating chances, winning tackles, completing passes and blocking shots.
Scoring and creating goals is still easiest way to rack up the points, and that was proven this weekend as nine of the top eleven points-scorers found the net over the course of opening weekend.

Philippe Coutinho was the weekend's biggest points-scorer on opening weekend, with his two-goal performance against Arsenal on Sunday seeing him score a whopping 54.75 points in his first outing of the campaign.
The bargain of the weekend has to have been West Ham defender James Collins, who picked up 43.25 points at a FanDuel price of just £4.3m after finding the net in Monday's defeat at Chelsea, with a number of points picked up for defensive actions.
